Years ago it was “I went to your grandfather’s school.” Then “I went to your father’s school.” Over time the connections evolved into “I sailed with your brother.” “Your brother was my Chief Mate . . . . I sailed on your brother’s ship . . . . Your cousin was my Chief Mate . . . I sailed with your nephew . . . I was on the ship with your niece. . . . My father went to your school.” Most recently, a new student mentioned that his grandfather had gone to our school. Over the thirty plus years of our time in Seattle, we have seen off and welcomed home from sea hundreds of mariners and friends. With a new generation taking on leadership at the school, we hope to continue this connection for many years to come.
