The Rules of the Road Course is approved for USCG personnel DWO certification and all Deck Officer approved courses.  It occurs as “Week A” in the Deck Officer curriculum for mariners taking our approved courses (Master/Mate 100/200, OUPV, Master/Mate Fishing). Chart Navigation is Week B of the Deck Officer course cycle.  The week covers working with buoyage and aids to navigation, piloting, instruments, tides, currents, chart projections, publications, compass error and magnetism.  The week is required for Deck Officers taking approved courses.  It is also part of the Deck License Preparation Course and the first of the two weeks of the STCW Terrestrial Navigation Course.
