The Master 200 GRT Near Coastal credential allows the holder to serve as Master on vessels less than 200 GRT (except towing vessels) on Near Coastal and Inland Waters.
The Mate 200 GRT Near Coastal credential allows the holder to serve as Mate on vessels less than 200 GRT (except towing vessels) on Near Coastal and Inland Waters.
The Master 100 GRT Near Coastal credential allows the holder to serve as Master on vessels less than 100 GRT (except towing vessels) on Near Coastal and Inland waters.
The OUPV credential allows the holder to serve as Master on uninspected vessels less than 100 GRT (except towing vessels) on Near Coastal and Inland waters.

RECENCY: 90 days in the past 3 years on vessels of appropriate tonnage
ENGINE DEPARTMENT EXPERIENCE on vessels of appropriate tonnage may be creditable for up to 90 days of the sea service requirements.
Examination
At this link, you will find two Deck Examination Guides. If your qualifying service for the license began before March 24, 2014, you may opt to be examined under the procedures of the old Deck Examination Guide. The old guide’s examinations are significantly less difficult in most cases than the new guide’s. Note: If a mariner holds a Mate 200 NC and meets the service requirements for the Master 200 NC, no examination is required.

Classes
Mariners preparing for the credential examinations can begin on almost any Monday. The course of study is 4 weeks (A-D) for the 200-GT credentials and 3 weeks (A-C) for the 100-GT. The tuition is good for one year.
